So-I ran the Teton Dam Half Marathon. It is here in Rexburg and is a pretty big event for the area. I think they only let a 1000 people run in the race, so it's fairly small compared to other races. I can truely say that it was a great experience. I almost didn't do it as I kinda slacked off training after we got home from our cruise-but one of my neighbors-2 weeks before the race-asked me to run with her. I caved and signed up just before deadline. I think I'll do it again next year!
Here is a picture pre-race with my mother-in-law and sister-in-law. I have to say-my mother in law is an amazing runner-for not considering herself a runner. She ran the half as well in 1 hour 46 minutes. I came in half hour behind her at 2:15:46. I don't know Sophie's time-but she ran the whole way with a blister that formed about mile four and a foot injury! Tough girl. I didn't think I would run the whole way-but I stayed with my neighbor and we kept going and I was able to make it. I about lost it the very last hill we had to climb-but somehow pushed through. I was incredibly amazed at myself! Besides some minor leg cramping the last 50 feet, and some very sore legs for the next few days-i came out pretty good. The course is a gradual uphill climb for 8 miles, and then it's flat for a few and then downhill the last 2 miles, with one bad uphill right before the last 500 yards. It's a nice run.
This is our post picture-we didn't ever take one by the finish line, but we did take a picture of the finish line. We thought we could just photoshop ourselves in. We never did that. Oh well.
I also wanted to post these pictures of our batman children! You didn't know our kids were super heros-did you! McKinley totally has the face down. Gavin however, I'm not quite sure what he was so shocked about. Matthew and I laughed and laughed at this picture of Gavin. It was fairly late at night-so we may have been a litte tired-but you gotta admit-it's a funny pic! Love my kids!
Ooooooooohhhhhh...my grandbabies are bat children!! I always knew we had "batty" genes in our line somewhere!! How cute! I love you two and miss you sooooooooo much!! Kisses & huggs from Grammie Susie
